Embracing the Overlap

“I know there is strength in the differences between us. I know there is comfort where we overlap.” - Ani DiFranco

This quote speaks to me. As the Co-Creative Director of Fusion Design Studio during the Fall 2021 semester, I knew I wanted to incorporate this somehow into our Fall campaign. The campaign, which we presented at Lehigh’s Creativate Exposition, was to center around the themes of identity, diversity, and intersectionality - and how these things make us better people. Every team member drew a different contour face, and I pieced them together like a puzzle, with the overlapping faces representing different areas of our intersecting identities. Embracing the Overlap is an interactive multimedia project, encouraging students to upload a selfie and share their story to be featured in our ongoing social media campaign.
